How we are different
We took the usual process apart
Most home repair companies, including the big franchise names, work the same way: you fill in a form, wait for a callback, book someone to come and look, and only then find out the price.
We start with the price instead.
Why the price is fixed
Working out how long something takes is our problem, not yours.
Hourly billing is the default in home repair and it quietly transfers every risk to the customer. Slow day, wrong tool, second trip for materials: all of it lands on your invoice, and you find out at the end.
We price the job instead. It means we turn down work we cannot price confidently, and it means the number on the quote is the number you pay.
The trade-off is honest: we are not the cheapest option for a quick fifteen-minute fix. Hourly handymen are cheaper for tiny jobs and we will tell you so.

Do you charge by the hour?
No. We quote a fixed price for the whole job before any work starts. Hourly billing pushes risk onto you — if the job takes longer than expected, you pay for it. A fixed price puts that risk on us, which is where it belongs.
Who actually does the work?
An established, insured local contracting company operating under the Thatcher Home brand. They carry their own licenses, insurance and trained technicians. The legal entity responsible for your job is named on your written estimate and on your invoice — we do not hide it.
How fast will I get a price?
The same business day. Send photos and a short description and your written quote comes back with a fixed price, the scope written out and the name of the local company that will do the work. No estimate visit, no obligation.
What jobs do you not take?
We do not do licensed electrical, plumbing or HVAC work, structural alterations, or anything requiring permits beyond routine repair. If your job needs one of those trades we will tell you on the first call rather than sending someone unqualified.
Do you have a minimum?
Yes — $450. Below that the cost of quoting, scheduling and documenting the work exceeds the value of the job, and we would rather say so than pad an invoice.
